2021 SPOILER ALERT: IT WILL NEVER BE THE SAME

As many were trying to find a way to bring in the most abnormal New Year of our lives, with as much disguised normalcy as possible, the start to my New Year’s felt more like a never-ending tragedy from the Twilight Zone.

My husband’s father passed away a week prior.

New Year’s Day was designated for traveling to his funeral.

AND MY HUSBAND AND I DIDN’T MAKE IT.

Why?

BECAUSE HE ALMOST DIDN’T MAKE IT.

My husband had to be rushed to the ER, due to a critical deteriorating state of respiratory distress where he couldn’t breathe.

He was fighting for his own life due to COVID.

And despite his 105-degree temperature - I still had to curse out the hospital staff to get my husband treated immediately.

I cursed, cried and pleaded with no dignity.

By the grace of God, my husband was admitted into the hospital, given oxygen and treated in time. He is now back home and recovering under the care of his beloved wife.

That was the start to my year…HELLO 2021.

IT WILL NEVER BE THE SAME
After the traumatic experience my husband went through, he will never be the same.

Without being able to see my father-in-law again …Thanksgiving & Christmas dinner will never be the same.

Due to the disruptive shift salon life has taken during the pandemic…the lives of every hairstylist and salon owner will never be the same.

With 100,000+ businesses permanently closed due to COVID…entrepreneurs will never be the same.

After over 360,000 deaths in the U.S. and over 86MM worldwide due to COVID…mankind will never be the same.

Thus, I will never be the same – and neither will you.

THE MYSTERY?!?
Just a couple of days into 2021 I have cried, yelled, screamed, and said countless wtf words.

But you know what I realized?

Our world has been turned upside-down and inside-out to the point that life as we knew IT WILL NEVER BE THE SAME!

And honestly, EVERY DAY FROM THIS POINT FORWARD IS A MYSTERY!

This passage from “Beyond Entrepreneurship 2.0” by Jim Collins published at the end of 2020 summarized this ideal perfectly:

“UNCERTAINTY IS CHRONIC.
INSTABILITY IS PERMANENT.
DISRUPTION IS COMMON.
WE CAN NEITHER PREDICT NOR GOVERN EVENTS.
THERE WILL BE NO NEW NORMAL.
THERE WILL ONLY BE CONTINUOUS SERIES OF NOT NORMAL EPISODES, UNFORSEEN BY MOST OF US UNTIL THEY HAPPEN.”

So if the future is now completely unpredictable by an exponent of 2020 x 2021. Guess what I’m gonna do?

CREATE The F***Ing FUTURE!

How?

BY CREATING THE MF’N UNPREDICTABLE!

Every event in life is a blessing in disguise. That’s why it’s unpredictable, and that’s the true mystery uncovered.

That’s the surprise gift of sorts. And as soon as we receive it..it’s the PRESENT!

And the key is you can’t stop looking for it, which means you can never QUIT. NEVER! NO MATTER WHAT!

Sure, 2020 & the first week of 2021 laid me out flat on my a$$ more times than I can count.

Like Rocky said, “IT’S NOT HOW HARD YOU CAN HIT, BUT HOW HARD YOU CAN GET HIT & KEEP MOVING FORWARD!”

So at this point in 2021 let it be known it’s knockout season and PK’s gloves are off.

I’m coming out fucking SWINGING!

SWINGING FOR HEALTH, SWINGING FOR WEALTH, SWINGING FOR PROSPERITY, SWINGING FOR SCALE, SWINGING FOR EQUITY, SWINGING FOR INCLUSION, SWINGING FOR SERENITY, SWINGING FOR HAPPINESS!

And the only thing that won’t be a mystery that I know for certain is I GOT THIS…CUZ GOD GOT THIS!
